AFN Description[]

Opal has a bad, bad cold and Ernest can't stay home to look out for her and the kids because he has deliveries to make. Peanut and Jelly offer to take over Mama's household chores and be "mama for a day" while she stays in bed. Looking out for Baby Butter, making Mama's breakfast and cleaning the house lead to a series of disasters, culminating in a houseboat full of soap bubbles. It all turns out okay - but it sure wasn't easy being Mama!

Quotes[]

  • (Although Opal says she is okay --despite her sneezing-- Ernest does not believe it. He knows she really has a cold.)
  • Ernest: Fine my foot. You are catching a cold, Opal. I'm gonna stay home from work and take care of you.
  • Opal: Oh, Ernest, you can't. You've got people all over Lake Hoohaw who need their deliveries.
  • Ernest: Well, then I'm gonna call the Raccoons and have Wanda come over here.

Note[]

When leaving, Ernest kisses Opal while she is sick. In real life, anyone who kisses a sick person would get sick, too, especially if it is either from a virus (like Opal's cold) or a bacterial infection.
